Welcome to Pops Spedster's Place, where special education teachers, parents and students will find instructional supports and accommodations for people with intellectual disabilities resulting from low incidence and acquired impairments. At Pops Spedster's Place, we use Developmentally Appropriate Instruction (DAI) to teach academic and functional skills related to developmental assessments and Common Core State Standards.

Literacy Probe

The following set of pictures can be used to determine a basic level of literacy for students with low incidence disabilities. Each picture contains prompts that the student can use to identify sight words, to establish a level of fluency in basic reading skills and to support strategies such as pronouncing intitial consonant sounds and color matching with names of colors and numbers with names of numbers.
